The Board Goat: Providing Elegant Charcuterie and Cheese Boards in Southwest Alabama

As Mary Ashlyn Lankford’s family gathered around the table for a game of cards, she dashed to the kitchen to gather some snacks and munchies for the night. 

Checking out her fridge, she found a bit of brie cheese, a small bowl of jam, crackers, grapes, salami, and few other odds and ends. Having seen some lovely charcuterie boards featured on Tic Toc, she thought she’d dress up her game night snacks. So, she assembled these items on her cutting board, snapped a few pics of her handiwork, and posted it on Facebook.

What came next was totally unexpected. 

“So many people responded positively to my post. It was encouraging and pretty exciting too.”

Be a “Litter Getter” this Weekend

Disgusting Litter Bugs have been at it again, spoiling the beauty of Southwest Alabama by treating its highways and byways like trash cans. 

The Thomasville Chamber of Commerce hopes to recruit Litter Getters to combat the litter scourge and restore community pride.

The Chamber will be handing out garbage bags at the Community Garden located in downtown Thomasville, on Saturday, April 24, beginning at 8 a.m. The first 25 Litter Getters will get a free Hardee’s breakfast that morning.

Ongoing efforts will include the reinstatement of the Thomasville Garden Club.

Lynne Slade, Chamber of Commerce secretary, is spearheading the beautification endeavors. “We want to renew our commitment to beautify the city and hope to inspire others to do the same. We need community involvement to make a sustainable difference,” explained Slade.

The Garden Club, consisting of a diverse cross section of the community, will be awarding a Yard of the Month and encouraging maintenance of the Thomasville community garden, residential homes, and neighborhoods.

Community Garden spots are still available and may be reserved by contacting Lynne at the Chamber of Commerce at (334) 636-1542.

Birthday Fun

I recently celebrated my 49th birthday, kicking off another trip around the sun!

This year, I struck out on my own with my positive attitude in tow and sunshine literally on my shoulders, to find some local Birthday Fun. 

To me, a fun birthday is a day of being treated like a Queen, without the guilt of busting the budget or calorie count for the month.
